This is the end my friend.

I didn't end up doing anything yesterday besides going to my tutor for an hour. I'm not even sure if I was there for an entire hour because I kind of just got sick of studying. Turns out I probably should have studied a little bit more because I thought the exam was so hard. We only got an hour to do each section of the test and I never ended up getting the first section finished on time. Hopefully it doesn't affect my mark too much. After my exam we had grand march practice. So many people kept messing up; it was so frustrating. We had to walk in circles for half an hour outside and it was so hot out I was just getting mad. For my afternoon classes we got to watch magic tricks and move desks. I ended up being done school half an hour early but my friends made me stay until the end of the day so I could honk my horn with them after school while leaving the parking lot.

It was the last day of school for so many of my friends; it was pretty sad. My best friend Ainsley is graduating. It will be so weird not seeing her every day.

I am suppose to be studying for my History exam that I have to write tomorrow morning but I don't really like history so I doubt ill do much studying. I just cannot wait to get all these exams over with so I can enjoy my summer.

Tomorrow I have to write my history exam at nine. After I am done I have to meet Jay at the flower attic to pick up my corsage and then go tanning. Once I am done tanning I have to drive to Clear Lake and pick my boyfriend up from school and then head to his house. I cannot wait to see him because I feel like I haven't seen him in ages. I get to meet Cee Lo Green this weekend too!

Today is my last day posting because school is officially done. I hope you guys found my blog assuming and maybe some day I will post again; don't get your hopes up.

"Look, you're really cute kid, but I don't know what you're saying!"

Australian Gold Cheeky Brown. That's the name of the new tanning lotion I got after school yesterday. I love it because it smells just like bubblegum. I had never used an Australia Gold tanning lotion before so I didnt really know what to expect because some tanning lotions are stronger then other ones. This lotion ended up being pretty strong and I ended up burning my face and bum. Its so itchy however it doesnt look that bad. My old tanning lotion made me look more brown so I think I am going to look around for some more new stuff then just rotate between the two of them.

After we went tanning I went home and took a nap until supper was ready. Mom made pork chops and rice but the porkchops looked like that had a lot of fat on them so I just ate a bunch of rice which gave me ridiculous hiccups.I went back to sleep until "The Voice" came on television. I watched it for about an hour until I got too tired to stay awake and I went to bed for the night. No i did not study study yesterday.

Today I am going to study like crazy. My Pre Cal exam is tomorrow morning and I've barely studied at all so I am getting kind of nervous. Tonight I am definately going to study. I have no plans for tonight other then that. I might go for a drive or something if I need a brain break. Wish me luck on my exam! ahh.

GUIDE TO TANNING ACCELERATORS.
The Quick Guide to Tanning AcceleratorsWe all want our skin to look healthy and fit and many feel that the only way to achieve results like that is to tan. While there are a variety of sunless tanning products out there that produce great tans (no more orange faces), many people will still opt for the old fashioned beach chair approach or visit a tanning parlor to spend some time under a UV lamp.

If you’ve decided to tan either in direct sunlight or in a tanning bed or booth, you may want to consider a tan accelerator. Tanning accelerators, or tan promoters as they are also called, are products that can speed up your tanning process to give you more color with less time spent in the sun or in the booth.

How Do they Work?
In order to understand how tanning accelerators work, we first need to understand how our skin naturally reacts to the sun.

When exposed to UV rays, your skin produces a pigment protein called melanin as a protective measure. The more you expose yourself to UV (whether indoors or out), the more melanin your skin produces and the darker your skin will become. Of course when your exposure to UV rays is greater than what the melanin in your skin can handle, you can develop a sunburn – bad news no matter which side of the sun or sunless tanning debate you’re on.

Tanning accelerators are designed to increase your body’s natural production of melanin and are typically sold as either topical lotions or pills. Although there are a variety of tanning accelerators on the market, most of them include one or perhaps both of the following ingredients:

Psoralen is extracted from citrus oil and other plant substances. In fact, it is commonly found in limes (and yes, lime juice applied to the skin can help you tan faster, but that’s a lot of limes). Psoralen is an amino acid that stimulates the pigment cells in your skin to produce more melanin when exposed to the UV rays. The result – you can quickly develop a tan with much less time spent in the sun or under the lamp.

Tyrosine is another amino acid sometimes added to tan accelerators to stimulate melanin production. Like psoralen, it is also a building block for melanin, but its use in this capacity has not been as well researched or documented.

Are they Safe?
The concept behind tanning accelerators is to maximize the results you achieve while minimizing the amount of time you need to spend exposed to UV light. The downside is that using a sunscreen in conjunction with them slows their effectiveness, so many users opt to tan unprotected. And so far as the ingredients are concerned, neither psoralen nor tyrosine are FDA-approved when used in this capacity. Also keep in mind that psoralen increases your skin’s sensitivity to light, so you should carefully consider your options before choosing to use a tanning accelerator.

Housekeeping!

Yesterday I had a job interview at Jays Inn and Suites. The lady ended up knowing my parents really well so I was basically handed the job when I walked in the door. Jays Inn and Suites is a hotel and she hired me as a house keeper. I was pretty pumped because I was expecting to get a funny maids outfit but she told me that I could clean in whatever I felt comfortable in; I just cant wear anything too revealing. Courtney and Ainsley also had interviews after me and they ended up getting the jobs too. The reason why they were hiring so many is because they want a whole new staff for the summer so their regular staff could take summer vacation. I told them I didn't want to start until July because I have a lot of graduations to attend at the end of June however Courtney starts this Friday and Ainsley starts next Wednesday. We get paid eleven dollars per hour and if we want to work weekends we will get paid an extra dollar per hour for those shifts. We are all working full time so I am not completely sure how often I am going to work at Tim's anymore.

After our interviews were over we all went for a little drive and then I had to take off to go get tutored. My tutor is Margie McConnell and she basically lives a block away from me so its easiest to go to her. She is a whiz though so I know she will probably always know the answer. She is helping me with Pre Calculus right now because I have my provincial exam Thursday morning. I figured out that I could get a zero percent on my exam and still pass with a fifty two though.

When I got back from my tutor mom and dad had made chicken wings and noodles. It was so good. We all watched the Vancouver vs Boston game but after Boston had scored their first two goals I switched living rooms and watched the Bachelorette instead. Once it was done I went to bed because I was exhausted.

After school I am going tanning and after that I am hitting the books. I need to study!

"I always wished for this, but it's almost turning into more of a nightmare than a dream."

This weekend ending up being kind of boring. Friday after school Madison and I went tanning and Courtney came with us for some company. After tanning we picked up Shawn from Tim Horton's and we all got our bathing suits and went hot tubbing at Steven's house because his family just got a brand new hot tub. We hung out in the hot tub until 7pm and then we all got dressed into our clothes and went to the fair in Brandon. In my car I took Madison Johnston, Courtney Laursen, Chris Bertrum, and Haley Linski. Stephen took Shawn with him in his car, and we met Landon in there who took his own car too. It was seven dollars per person to get into the fair and another thirty five dollars so you could go on the rides. We decided that that was too expensive and three of us ended up crawling into the trunk of Steven's car so we could get in for free. We went on rides until about 11:00 pm and then we met up with Travis and his friends: Myles Samson and Nolan Spiess. We went on three rides with them and the rest of the night everyone played carnival games and went home with their arms full of stuffed animals. The whole night was really scary because people were constantly fighting, getting arrested, getting stabbed, or super drunk. One person even died on one of the rides. As it got to around closing time we decided to get out of there before we got ourselves into trouble because so many people were trying to pick fights with anyone would fight them.Once we left we went to MacDonalds drive thru and everyone got some food and we went back home.

On Saturday I studied for a little while then Courtney and I decided to have a picnic in the park.We laid there for about three hours and got sun burnt ( its gone now) until we finally went home. After I got home Ainsley texted me and asked me to hang out so she came over for a little while and we hung out  in my yard. Garret Simpson came over for a little and hung out with us until he left and Paige picked up Ainsley and I because she was suppose to go to the fair with Tanner Pid and she didn't want to go alone. Therefore Ainsley and I went with her and instead of spending all of the money to go on rides again we snuck into Paige's trunk to get into the fair and while Paige and Tanner went on rides Ainsley and I went and hung out in the beer gardens. (yes, we got in) People kept buying us drinks and by the time we left the beer gardens we had no idea where we were really but we ran into the petting zoo so I got to pick up goats and kangaroos on my adventure. Paige finally found us and we all sang and danced the entire way home. I even pretended to play the guitar for them. When we got back to Virden Paige dropped Ainsley and I off at my house and she went back to her house. Courtney called me because she wanted to hang out that night too so Courtney got dropped off at my houes and we all went for a massive walk around town. There were people partying everywhere! I had never seen so many people around town in my entire life. We pretended to drive peoples golf carts around when we actually didnt even get them started and we messed around with everything in our track. We never did any damage to anything though. Eventually we walked Courtney home and Ainsley and I walked back to my house and went to bed.

Sunday was just a really bad day for me. I was hungover all day and I couldnt eat. Travis was planning to come and see me after work but when he got home there were no vehicles there for him to take to my house so he never ended up coming which just made me grumpy. Then one of my friends from Swan River told me that they were driving through Virden and they were gonna stop in to say hi which they never ended up doing either which made me even more grumpy. I was probably in the worst mood I had been in in a long time. I eventually just went to sleep so I could stop thinking about it.

Today I slept in till 8:45 which made me late for school. I have a job interview after school to work at a hotel for the summer. I hope I get it becaues I really dont want to work at Tim Horton's anymore. Courtney and Ainsley also have interviews there after school so at least I dont have to go alone. Other then that I will probably study all night because my exams start in three days.

The Summer Fair

Do you like carnival rides? Well, if you do, and you’re in Brandon during the third week of June, come to the Summer Fair. The fair has things to do for everyone, young and old. For the little ones, there’s the kiddy section. For older people (or people who don’t like the rides) there are displays to see inside the Keystone Center. Of course there are rides, games and food. To get in it’s about $4 for a child and $12 for an adult. If you want a wristband for unlimited rides, it’s about $20. The Keystone Center (which is where the fair takes place) is on 18th Street and it’s next to impossible to miss.
Check out some rides like the Inverter, the Gravitron and the Hurricane. (Don’t go on the last one if you have a weak stomach.) There are other rides at the fair but those are my favorite. There are many games at the fair and you’re sure to find some that you like, unless you save your money! I like the food at the fair, and there is quite a selection. My favorite food is the mini-donuts. There are also corn dogs and hot dogs. On Saturday, you can come and watch the Demolition Derby. On any day of the fair, you can see the circus. Watch a man shoot himself out of a cannon, see car displays and more!
If you get hungry and don’t feel like eating at the fair, you can go to Gulliver’s which is near the Keystone. When I go to Gulliver’s, I like to have a steak and maybe some fries. After Gulliver’s, you can walk down the road to Dairy Queen for a dessert. I suggest that you try a blizzard or maybe a Sundae.
The Brandon Summer Fair sounds good doesn’t it, well, it’s even better to be there. See you at the Summer Fair!

"I've always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come."

Yesterday Steven, Shawn, and I planned on going golfing in Oak Lake some time after school. We couldn't go right after school because Shawn takes the bus home and doesn't get home until five and I went tanning after school. For some reason my phone died by the time I was out of the tanning bed so I didn't really know if Steven was trying to get ahold of me or not. When it finally charged he told me that we were not going to go golfing anymore but Courtney, Steven, Shawn and I were going to go to Riel's at eight thirty for wing night.I was kind of sad because I picked out a really sweet outfit to golf in. I decided to take a nap and I woke up to Steven knocking on my door. I got up and left with him without changing out of my sweat pants or anything. We got Courtney and we were on our way. When we got to Oak Lake we picked up Shawn and went to Riel's. Everyone was dressed in normal clothes except for me and Riel's is sort of a fancy restaurant; I didn't really care. We were all pumped to get our wings when we found out that we had to put the sauce on the wings ourselve; what kind of fancy restaurant was this place. I was so mad because I went out so I didnt have to cook my own food, and turns out I ended up having to do have the work anyway. Not only that but you could tell the ice tea was home made and the lemons they put in it were old. That place is awful.I went to bed once I got home.

This morning my boss called me at 5:45am to wake me up because yesterday I told him I was going to show up late. So much for that I guess. After work I went home quickly to shower and when i was leaving to go to school I was backing out of my driveway which is impossible to get out of. The side of my car hit this little bush and my mirror fell right off. I got Brock to look at it because he is in power mech and they had to order me a new mirror. It only costs me fifty dollars though so i guess it could be worse.

Tonight I am hanging out with Steven, Shawn, Courtney, Madison, Travis, Haley, and Nolan Spiess. We are all hanging out in town after school then leaving for Brandon at 7:00 tonight. Landon is meeting up with us when we go to Brandon because he will be in there working out. I dont have to work for the rest of the weekend so I think it will be a good one! One more week until exams...

happy birthday to you.

Madison and I decided to go tanning after school yesterday. I had a bunch of free tanning stickers so we decided to try them out. Madison's worked alot better because my skin was a little bit darker before we tried ; however you can still see mine a little bit. After that I went home because I had to do two history reports due for today and I hadnt started either of them. It took me about four hours before i was done them both.

After I finally finished them I watch some of the Vancouver Canucks game; meanwhile deciding not to watch the rest of the playoffs because Vancouver was just letting me down. I got so frustrated I decided to go for a drive with Courtney becaues she had stories for me. In the end we just ended up parking somewhere and laying across the seats while sharing stories. How cute.

When I got home at eleven my dad was watching some show where these artists are given a back drop and a model and they have to paint their model to blend into the backdrop so you cannot tell that there is a model standing there. The person who did the worst job had to leave and the person with the best got a free painting from a famous artists; everyone else just advanced to the next round. It was pretty cool.

After that show ended dad went to bed and I stayed up by myself because I couldnt sleep. This show came on where people send in videos of really scary stuff and a team of people prove wehther the video was set up or if it was real life. Last night someone sent in a survalence video of a theatre and it showed a ghost sitting in one of the chairs. The people tried many different things to see if they could catch the same footage by making it up themselves. They came very close but it never looked identical. Eventually they got fed up and waited until the middle of the night and went back into the theatre with a heat gun. They found ghosts everywhere! It was scary. Another person sent in footage of a "UFO" however they proved that it was just three skydivers practicing at night time and the sky divers even said it was them.

Today is Alexa's birthday! Happy Birthday. I had to work this morning and it was pretty busy. I love when its busy because time flies! Tonight I am going tanning and Ill probably study for my exams. We will see what the day brings I guess.

Invisible Man Photographs - Man Painted to Blend into Background

Summary:
Message claims that attached photographs depict a man who paints himself in such a way that he appears to blend into the background to such an extent that he is almost invisible (Full commentary below).

Subject: Invisible man

This guy paints himself, no kidding, no trick photography he just paints himself

Invisible Man 2

Invisible Man 3

Invisible Man 4

Invisible Man 5

Invisible Man 7

Commentary:
According to this forwarded email, attached photographs show a man who skillfully paints himself so that he so closely resembles his surroundings that he appears to be virtually invisible. At first glance, these amazing images may appear to be the result of digital manipulation and indeed a number of self-proclaimed experts have already dismissed them as being "photoshopped".

However, the images are in fact genuine photographs depicting the work of clever Chinese artist Liu Bolin. The Beijing based artist has exhibited his work around the world with shows in China, Paris, the United States and elsewhere. News.com.au notes that Mr Bolin is a perfectionist who can take up to ten hours to ready himself for photographs of his performances. The UK's Telegraph also reports on Mr Bolin's art, noting:
In a series of mind-boggling pictures Liu melts into any background, almost entirely invisible in front of red phone boxes, Chinese flags and even earthquake rubble.

It means people walking by while he is carrying out his performance often have no idea he is nearby until he moves away. Liu said he wanted to show how city surroundings affected people living in them and how.

He said the inspiration behind his work was a sense of not fitting in to modern society and as a silent protest against the Government's persecution of artists.
Mr Bolin generally uses assistants who help to paint him in readiness for performances

"Imagination is more then just knowledge."

Yesterday was the most boring day of my entire life. I worked after school from 4pm-11pm and once I got home I had to go straight to bed because I worked again at 6am this morning. I was pretty disappointed that I had to work last night becasue "The Voice" was on tv and I had to miss it. Cee Lo Green is my idol so I was fairly disappointed that I didn't get to see it. While I was at work everyone kept texting me and asking me why Cee Lo looked so different tonight, but of course I didnt know. When I went on twitter after work Cee Lo had tweeted saying that he didnt wear his sunglasses and he grew a moustache; I missed it! Im not impressed, but hopefully I can watch it online tonight.

Tonight I am going to stay home and study because I have to write my math provincial exam next thursday for pre calc. If thats not bad enough all my grade eleven exams start the next day. (Next week is going to be stressful!) Im starting to get really nervous because soon after exams is graduation and I have alot of friends in grade twelve. Its going to suck having to watch them all leave. I get to walk in grand march this year with Jay Rimke; I was very really nervous until I found out that there is a few other girls in my grade in it too. This blog is getting really boring because I haven't really been doing anything lately but I will get out soon!

This is dedicated to students who want or need some guidance when it comes to preparing for that ‘e’ word thing, known as ‘exams’.
It’s a great reflection of your commitment to study if you are reading this section at the start of the semester or much earlier than exam time. If this is the case, then these tips are going to have you leaps and bounds ahead of the rest. The tips below are taken from Pogojo, a website that is dedicated to improve students life! Study to your Exams with Pogojo have never been easier!

Steps

  1. Create a study timetable or study in chunks of time. Mix up subjects so that you use some parts of your brain while giving other parts of your brain a rest. If you are more alert during the day, then use the day time to tackle subjects that need most of your energy and study and revise content that is easier to go over later on in the day or at night.
  2. Write a “to-do list” with the topics and tasks you need to tackle based on the subjects you have to cover on your timetable. This puts your workload in to perspective and give you a sense of progress and accomplishment as you tick each item off.
  3. Prioritize your studying based on the difficulty of the subjects and course material, the amount of information you need to cover, and of course, the order of your exams, which should be reflected in your study timetable.
  4. Summarize each unit of the course whether you write or type your notes is up to you. Writing out notes can sometimes help memorize the content better.
  5. Highlight sections of information that you need to familiarize yourself with still. Recap by reading and re-writing these points out. Look over the easy work first and then focus your energy on points you need to revise. There’s no point in wasting reading time and brain space looking over information that you already know!
  6. Take notes! Use techniques that suit your style of studying. Learn more about techniques of taking note.
  7. Use past exam papers. Go through the questions and check your answers. Review those that you get wrong and seek similar questions till you are able to answer that style of question confidently and accurately.
  8. Group study with other students can be great for swapping notes, teaching each other and revising in general.
  9. Give yourself a break! This is easy to pencil in if you have a study schedule set up. It motivates you to get through a session of study, knowing that you get to chill out at a certain time. Have food, phone, TV or internet breaks every couple of hours to relax your mind and revitalize. But be careful, jumping online and trying to keep up with emails and online chatting can sometimes keep your brain working and send it in to overtime and exhaustion. So make sure you’re doing something on your break that doesn’t require too much effort.
  10. A decent study area is like great studying Feng-Shui. So make sure your study area is exactly for just that - studying! Clear the area from any distractions, especially electronics such as your mobile and computer! Have adequate lighting and a comfortable chair with plenty of desk space to have your study materials close by.
  11. Procrastination - don’t do it! This is when you keep delaying study especially for subjects that you don’t want to face. It’s when you find reasons that you think are valid enough to stop you from studying such as a sudden need to help with the household chores. Keep it real and don’t put off studying for a later time. Stick to your schedule and tackle the study load straight away in small section and save yourself from having to cram it all in later on.
  12. Eat and drink well and try to avoid overdosing on junk food, which serve as comfort food in times of stress - they are low in nutrients. Although the food pyramid tells us that fruit is healthy, it actually has useful natural sugars that fuel you with the energy that you need to help you concentrate. Cereal, sandwiches and muesli bars are also a good fix and they keep your tummy from aggravating you, and don’t forget to keep your brain hydrated by drinking the right quantity of water!
  13. Exercise or do something that keeps you active. You can do this during your break or by dedicating a morning or afternoon to getting outdoors. Vigorous activity makes it easier for you to relax, stay calm and of course sleep.
  14. Various university facilities are at your disposal and you probably don’t even know it. There are usually personnel who are trained to help you cope with stress, answer study-related questions, give you study tips and other forms of guidance. Just visit your uni website or ask your professor what help is available.

Tips

  • Work smarter, not harder. Lastly, Pogojo wants you to remember that you know yourself best. Don’t match anyone else’s efforts. Improve on what you need to study. Be honest with yourself.

Warnings

  • Don’t panic when you are unsure of something or become stressed. Close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing and get your breathing to a slow and deep set of inhaling and exhaling. Get away from the books for a while and listen to a bit of music or talk to someone you know to get your mind off study.

"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them."

I usually don't pay attention in class and yesterday I found out that I had to write two tests today and one quiz. People would normally think that this would suck; that's an understatement. I have tests in my two worst classes and I don't know what is going on in either one of the classes. Because of that I had to miss our schools "sports awards" night so I could study. I was pretty much raised to play volleyball because my dad loves it so much but I got rookie of the year even though I did not go. When I wasn't studying last night I was either eating supper, or watching the "Bachelorette." I am in love with the Bachelorette!

Boston beat the Vancouver Canucks last night. I didn't watch because it was that bad of a game. On the positive side Vancouver can win in their home rink now. Let's hope they start winning again!

I was suppose to go tanning in an hour but I think I'm going to cancel my appointment and study instead. I have no plans for tonight because I work from four to eleven. What a brutal day.

Vancouver Vs Boston Stanley Cup Final .. Boston Thrashed Vancouver 8-1 In Game 3

Vancouver Vs Boston  .. Shortly after the Boston Bruins lost Nathan Horton to a frightening injury, they found an offensive rhythm that got them back into the Stanley Cup Finals.
Andrew Ference and David Krejci each had a goal and an assist in Boston’s four-goal second period, Tim Thomas made 40 saves, and the Bruins beat the Canucks 8-1 in game three on Monday night, trimming Vancouver’s series lead to 2-1.
Mark Recchi scored two goals for the Bruins, who turned a big win into a blowout with four more goals in the final 8 1/2 minutes of the third period against goalie Roberto Luongo, who won games one and two in Vancouver. Boston emerged from its offensive slump after Horton was taken off the ice on a stretcher in the first period after taking a late hit to the head from Vancouver defenseman Aaron Rome.
Brad Marchand scored a short-handed goal in the second period, and Daniel Paille added another short-handed goal in the third. Recchi, Chris Kelly and Michael Ryder — who finished with three points — scored in the final 2 1/2 minutes as the Bruins emphatically avoided a daunting 3-0 series deficit.
Boston had managed just three goals in its previous 10 periods before torching Luongo, who stopped 30 shots. Jannik Hansen broke up Thomas’ shutout bid with 6:07 to play for the Canucks, who finally hit a major bump in their late-season roll toward their first Stanley Cup title.
NHL scoring champion Daniel Sedin got a 10-minute misconduct late in a jarring loss for the Presidents’ Trophy winners, who had won seven of eight games. The Canucks had given up just six total goals in their previous four games while closing out the Western Conference finals and taking a two-game lead over Boston.
The palpable excitement of Boston’s first home finals game in 21 years turned into unease just 5 minutes into game three.
After Horton passed the puck to Milan Lucic at the Vancouver blue line, Rome left his feet to deliver a hard shoulder check to Horton’s upper chest and head. Horton appeared to be unconscious after he landed flat on his back, his arm spookily reaching up into empty space.
Medical personnel spent several minutes attending to Horton, who scored the Bruins’ winning game-seven goals in the first round against Montreal and again in the Eastern Conference finals against Tampa Bay. Horton was wheeled off the ice, wearing a neck brace and apparently talking.
Rome got a five-minute major for interference and a game misconduct, with at least one fan throwing a yellow towel at the Vancouver bench while Rome went to the dressing room.
Game four is Wednesday.

"She will give you a part of her she knows you can break."

It's me again! This weekend ended up being pretty fun. I had to work after school on Friday until eleven at night. I wasn't really sure what I was going to do when I got off but Haley Linski sent me a text and told me to come over to her house. Haley is a year younger then me and her sister Paige is a year older than  me so I am friends with both of them. When I got to Haley's there wasn't too many people there because all of the grade twelves were at the bar but some of the people who were there were: Ellisha Park (Grade 12), Paige Linski (Grade 12), Chris Bertrum (Grade 12), Carrigan George (Grade 10), Zach Roach (Grade10), Courtney Laursen (Grade 10), Madison Johnston (Grade 10), and Haley (Grade 10). At about 12:30pm Ellisha, Courtney, and Haley went to Brandon to get McDonald's so Madison, Zach and I decided to wander around town and find the rest of our friends. At 1am we ran into Callum Lawrence, Chris Campbell, Bryce Williams, and Justin Yochim outside of the bar. (no, nobody went inside) Madison, Zach, and I decided we wanted to go hot tubbing and we knew that Brady Potter's parents were away so we decided to walk there. However Brady was inside the bar with Madison's friend Jayson Argue so they came with us. None of us had bathing suits so when we got there Brady basically made everyone leave except for a few of us. None of us were willing to go in the hot tub in our underwear so we searched the house for shorts and bathing suit tops. Eventually everyone found clothes to wear and we sat in the hot tub for a little while. At 4am Zach and I decided to walk home because Madison and Jayson fell asleep.

On Saturday I had to work again from 3pm-10pm. My boyfriend, Travis Erickson, and his family were in town looking at campers because they want a new one so they visited me at work. It was embarrassing. We were short staffed so time went by quickly. After work i went home and grabbed some clothes and then went to a party in Minnedosa where my boyfriend and his friends were. When I got to Minnedosa I called Nolan Spiess, he plays hockey with my Travis, to get directions to the party because he if from Minnedosa. He accidentally gave me the wrong directions and I ended up getting so lost. I was already tired and my phone was about to die so I was not impressed. After twenty minutes of driving around aimlessly my boyfriend called me and gave me correct  directions to the party and even met me at the turn off. We stayed at the party until about 1am and then I drove Nolan back to Minnedosa and my boyfriend and I cruised back to his house in Clear Lake. My boyfriend likes doing dumb things to amuse people so he continuously switched my car into neutral while I was driving, mooned cars driving by, climbed onto my lap, and played with my blinkers constantly. I got pretty annoyed and pulled over and told him to get out of the car. He didn't think I would actually leave him there but I did. I drove a few kilometers down the road until he couldn't see me anymore and then turned around to go get him again. I started getting nervous because I couldn't see him anywhere and I thought I was going to have a breakdown. Eventually i found him and he yelled at me for a good five minutes because he thought he was going to get eaten by a bear. We both ended up laughing it off and he sat on my lap the rest of the way home. (He steered and I pressed the gas) When we got home it was about 2am so we went to bed because we did not want to wake up his little brother.

We never woke up until about 1 in the afternoon on Sunday and Travis had to mow his neighbors lawn so I went dirt biking with his dad for an hour. When Travis got home we went for a walk up to the lake and took his 5 year old brother, Cole, swimming. When we got home we watch an episode of Dragon's Den and I decided I was going to go home so I could make it home for supper. When I got home I grabbed a slice of pizza and went for a drive with Madison and Courtney. I got home at about 10pm and went to sleep.

This morning I had to work at 6am. Usually I am fairly grumpy when I work in the morning but my boss let me decorate the store with stickers all morning because we got some new timbits. I have exams in 10 days so I think i might just stay home tonight and start studying. School is almost out!

Sun kissed skin.

Yesterday turned out being pretty boring. After school Madison and I went tanning and drove around for a little bit. Eventually we got bored and we both went home.

I smelt strongly of tanning lotion so I was just about to shower when my friend Brock sent me a text and asked if I wanted to hang out. Brock and I became good friends almost four years ago but in the last year we kind of grew apart; however it was nice to hear from him. Normally I would just invite him to come to my house for a movie but my mom is sick right now so we couldn't. I asked him if he had any ideas of what we could do and we decided to just go for a drive and find puddles. It stormed here yesterday therefore there were a lot of puddles everywhere. Brock hates the smell of tanning lotion so i had to change clothes and drench myself in perfume. He got to my house pretty quickly and off we went. I was pretty thirsty so he took me to Tim Horton's and we caught up on everything we've missed in the past little while. We drove around for a little bit and he showed me the truck he wants to get; it was a grey F150. After that we finally went to look for puddles. I was pretty excited because I had wanted to go through them all day however my vehicle cant go through them because it would probably break down. (Its old) Brock and I looked everywhere; there were no puddles to be found. I was pretty shocked because four hours earlier some streets were covered in huge puddles. Evaporation, you suck. After driving around for an hour he took me back home.

I decided to hang out at home for a few hours to play Sims3 and watch T.V. with my sister. It was pretty boring. Eventually I sent Madison a text and we went up to Subway because I was craving yogurt. Turns out you can only get yogurt in the morning so I was out of luck. It wasn't a complete was of time though because Madison and I split a six inch sub and it was made but the best sandwich artist in the world; Callum Lawrence. We stuck around for a little bit to keep him company however by ten thirty we decided it was time to go home. I was fairly tired last night so I went to bed once I got home.

I'm going tanning again today at lunch time because I have to work after school. I usually don't mind working after school but today is Friday and I have to work till eleven. I'm not impressed because I would rather hang out with friends on a Friday night but I am sure they will still be out when I get off. On the plus side, it's the weekend ! I will talk to you guys on Monday. Toodles!

  1. Go to your local tanning salon and ask about the programs they have. Most salons have a variety of beds available:
    • Low pressure. This is the traditional tanning bed. UV rays are emitted in a spectrum that is similar to natural sunlight. The lamps produce fast color (instant gratification) but the risk of sunburn is highest in this kind of bed.If you burn easily, it's not recommended that you use this bed.
    • High pressure. These beds emit a higher proportion of UVA rays (versus UVB rays). UVB rays are the ones that cause sunburn. In this kind of bed you'll get a deeper, longer-lasting tan, but it will be slow to build.Usually this bed is more expensive.
    • Booth. This is basically a vertical tanning bed. Instead of laying down, you stand up. Parts of the skin that would normally be hidden doesn't come in contact with surfaces that other people's skin has touched (and sweat on, perhaps naked). Plus, it's the best option for claustrophobes.
    • Whole body spray. Your body gets sprayed by a substance that darkens your skin through a chemical reaction. UV rays are left out of the equation, so this is the least cancerous way to go. Keep in mind that this tan might fade away in a blotchy, unappealing way if you don't keep coming back for more.
  2. Take a tour. Visit a few salons and ask to see the beds. Is everything clean? Look closely at the beds. If you see any dirty buildup, like where the glass meets the edge of the bed, leave and never return. Otherwise, ask what kind of cleaner they use on the beds (glass cleaner won't wipe away bacterial infections, you know). Shop around, compare salons, and choose the one you like most.
  3. Fill out a skin analysis form. Any decent salon will make you do it. The form is used to determine your skin type (so they don't accidentally fry your skin by putting you in a bed for too long). It should only take a minute or so.
    • One important thing to be open about is what kind of prescription medication you're using. Some can affect the way your skin reacts to tanning beds...in a very bad way.
  4. Get goggles. Again, any decent salon will make sure you have goggles. If they don't insist, then they don't care about your safety (and they might be just as nonchalant about cleaning the beds in between uses). Don't worry, these funny-looking goggles won't give you raccoon eyes. They just make sure you won't go blind.
  5. Don't get tyrosine-based tanning accelerators, lotion, or pills. Don't listen to any mumbo jumbo about tyrosine. Yes, tyrosine is an amino acid that your body uses to produce melanin, which is the stuff that makes your skin look darker. That part is true. But there's no evidence (none!) that tyrosine is absorbed by your skin (or through your gut, just in case you're tempted to buy the pill form) and finds its way to the melanin factory.Learn How to Resist a Sales Pitch if they get pushy, or just leave.
  6. Go to your room. Strip down as low as you want to go. You can keep your underwear/bra on, or you can wear a swimsuit, or you can go nude. Use the same precautions you would take in a public shower. Remember that even though the surface of the bed should be cleaned between uses, the rest of the room probably isn't, so don't sit on the chair naked unless you're 100% sure the person before you didn't have crabs. Keep your socks on unless you're 100% sure the person before you didn't have foot warts. You know, things like that.
    • If you're really paranoid, and you don't mind the staff looking at you like you have ten heads, ask for a bottle of the cleaner so you can wipe things down yourself. Don't bring your own cleaner, though, because some cleaners (e.g. ammonia-based ones) can damage the finish on the glass in the beds, or irritate your skin in surprisingly unpleasant ways when you expose it to UV rays right after sitting on a chair that you wiped down in bleach.
    • Ask a staff member to give you a tanning bed crash course. Find out what all the buttons do. How do you shut the whole thing off? How do you control the fan? If there are separate bulbs for the face, how do you turn those on and off?
  7. Put on your safety goggles. This is a must. Don't even think about getting into that bed unless you have goggles or some kind of approved eye protection (sunglasses don't do the trick, no matter how stylish they are). Who cares how goofy you look?
  8. Go to bed. Get inside the bed and shut the lid. Press the button to flip the lights. There should be a timer, and the staff person should have assigned you a small time (like 10 minutes), no matter how much you argued that you don't burn, or that you want to get the most bang for your buck. A good tanning salon employee will know better and will start you off with a "low dosage" and increase it gradually (depending on your skin responded) every time you return. As you're laying there, pray that your DNA will prove resilient. Beg the tanning gods to spare you a sunburn. Visualize your cells producing melanin and lots of it. Or take a power nap (unless you're in a booth; napping while standing is not recommended).
  9. Get out of bed. If you're all sweaty and slick, wipe yourself down with a towel (which should have been provided). Put your clothes back on and swagger out of the salon.

 Tips

  • For a tan that "sticks" even longer, exfoliate right before visiting the salon. This will expose a fresh layer of skin that won't shed for a while, although it may also increase your chances of sunburn.
  • Don't shower directly after, let the melanin in your skin absorb the tan, it's a good idea to shower before and then bathe the next day if you can wait that long.
  • It is usually expected that after you finish with the machine, you wipe up any remaining sweat you might have left in the bed with the small towel. This reduces the time they have to take when they clean the bed before someone else uses it. It also saves you from some embarrassment.
  • Check for skin cancer regularly. Do a breast self examination while you're at it.
  • Tanning won't be as efficient if you're very hairy. Consider shaving or waxing first.
  • Moist skin tans better - stay hydrated, and be lavish with your favourite body lotion!

"Its not about waiting for the storm to pass, its learning to dance in the rain."

Yesterday I ended up hanging out with Courtney and Ainsley after school. We drove around for a little bit and checked out Tim Horton's Camp Day. There was a pie throwing contest and Ainsley got to throw a pie at one of the workers faces. Ainsley has been my best friend since I was in daycare because both of our moms work together. She is a year older then me but we are still inseparable. You would think you would  have gotten sick of each other by now but the truth is: Ainsley and I have never even got into a fight before.

After hanging out with Courtney and Ainsley I went over to my friend Chelsie's house who is also a year older than me. We never used to get along when we were little but when we joined the same volleyball team when i was in grade seven, we became very close friends. Chelsie and I ended up doing some pre calculus together and watched the Vancouver Canucks game. Vancouver won 1-0!  After that i was off to bed!

Its storming outside right now. They say that there is suppose to be a tornado watch here; isn't that just lovely. The lightning looks pretty cool right now but lets hope the electricity shuts down so we don't have to do work anymore.

As for tonight; I currently have no plans. I am tanning in a tanning bed after school with my best friend Madison. She is a year younger than me; we even have the same birthday. We always go tanning together because she is scared to go by herself.

Thats all I have planned. I will probably end up finding more to do, and you can find that out tomorrow.

"Dont gain the world and lose your soul, wisdom is better than silver or gold."

This morning I had to be up for work by 5:30 in the morning. I work at Tim Horton's during ridiculous hours of the morning so I can have my evenings off after school. I work from 6am - 8:15am however I get paid for an extra hour and I get free breakfast when I leave; it's worth it. Today was "Camp Day" at Tim Horton's so we all got to wear jeans and t-shirts to work instead of our uniforms. Camp day is a very important time of year at Tim Horton's because all of the money that is made on Camp Day goes to a fund that sends kids to camp rather then to our store. We got to set up activities in our parking lot and decorate our store so when kids come they can play games. Peggy, one of the supervisors at our store, said she would shave her head if we could raise at least $700.00 dollars at our store. When I left at 8:15 we had already raised $682.00. I think Peggy better start saying good-bye to her hair.

After work I got ready for school. I switched up my jeans because I did not want to smell like coffee at school and I put on my Vancouver Canucks shirt. Tonight is the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs; Vancouver against Boston.

Five minutes into my first period class, I got called down to the office. As it turns out I am being suspended for lying to my principal last week. I was an hour late getting to school one day and I told my principal I was at the dentist when I was actually at the doctor, I just didn't want to have to explain why. He claims he called my dentist and found out I wasn't there, so here I am: sitting in the back of the principals office, suspended. He is a Boston fan so he probably just didn't want this beautiful shirt roaming around the hallways. It's really not that bad back here, it's just really white and has a lot of books everywhere which gives me a very boring vibe. I might take a nap, hopefully they don't mind.

If you haven't figured out what I am doing tonight, I am watching the Vancouver Canucks game. Take my advice, watch it and cheer for Vancouver. They will win the whole series. Go Canucks!

P.S. If I am suspended again tomorrow its because my principal read my blog and doesn't like that I cheer for Vancouver.

Camp Day

Wednesday, June 1, 2011 is a special day for Tim Hortons Restaurant Owners, team members and guests. It's Camp Day! Camp Day is the one day a year when Tim Hortons Restaurant Owners across Canada and the United States donate every penny from coffee sales to the Tim Horton Children's Foundation. In 2010, Camp Day raised more than $9.7 million CDN ($9.3 million U.S.).

What One Cup of Coffee Can Do

Every time a guest buys a coffee at Tim Hortons on Camp Day they will help send more than 14,000 kids - who could otherwise not afford it - on the camping adventure of a lifetime. All children who attend one of the Foundation's six camps are selected from within the communities where Tim Hortons Restaurants are located. Tim Hortons Restaurant Owners work closely with local youth organizations and schools to select children, between the ages of nine and 12, to attend a 10-day summer camp session or seven day winter camp session.
"It's overwhelming each year see how our guests come together support Foundation," says Bill Moir, President, Tim Horton Children's Foundation. " On Camp Day, buying cup of coffee and participating the many activities helps contribute to positive change in child's life. And that's a good feeling."

Additional Fundraising and Special Guests

On Camp Day, guests can expect additional fundraising activities at many of their local Tim Hortons Restaurants. For example, funds are also raised at some Restaurants through a 'Rent-a-Tent' promotion where guests can personalize paper cut-out tents and post them in-restaurant for a donation. Other activities may include: indoor and outdoor games; silent auctions; face-painting; and drive-thru window washing. Some guests will invite special guests, including sports and media personalities, to greet guests and pour coffee throughout the day.

"If you want a rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain."

Have you ever woken up and just knew it wasn't going to be a good day? Well, that happened to me today. Not only did I wake up sick and in a bad mood, I woke up an hour late for school. I ended up calling my father who works at my school and he told me to just stay home for the day and get some rest. I put on a movie and i ended up falling asleep until 4:30 in the afternoon; I wasn't joking when I told you I was sick. When I woke up I no longer felt very sick but I could tell I was grumpy.

Because I had woken up so late I had to go to Madison's house to drop off her tanning lotion before she left to go tan. However when I got to my car I noticed someone had spilled rice all over my car. It was all across my seats and all over the floor. I was livid. I knew exactly who did it because my sister had asked me if she could use my car that day to bring the groceries from her old apartment to our house. I was so mad. I went storming back into the house and awoke her from the nap she was taking to clean it; she refused and I was not impressed. I started yelling at her saying "You can never drive my car again!" and she would just yell back "If I can't use your car, then you can't use my laptop." It was a never ending argument which got worse by the second. My mom finally came into the room and told me that I should just vacuum it and move on. I just spent ten dollars cleaning my car the week before so I didn't even consider cleaning the rice up an option. My dad, being the only grown up about the whole situation took my car to the vacuums uptown and cleaned it for me. However I felt so bad I took his vehicle up and I helped him.

By the time I came home I was having a break down. I was crying and for some reason I cleaned up everything in my sight; but i was still mad. Every time someone talked to me I would yell and throw things. Eventually everyone caught on and just stayed away from me. After I had settled down I called up my friend Courtney and we went for a drive. Courtney always knows what to say in any situation; if you ever need someone to cheer you up, shes the girl. By the end of the car ride I had forgotten everything that went on at home, and everyone at home had forgot about it too.

We all sat down and watched "The Voice" together and everyone got along fine. I have the biggest obsession with Cee Lo Green who stars on "The Voice" and I always go on huge rants about how one day I want to be best friends with him. I even follow him on twitter! My mom was having a good laugh about how badly I wanted to be friends with him when she told me that I was going to meet him in a few weeks. I had no idea what she was talking about so I just kind of ignored her comment. She eventually said " I thought you would be a little more excited to meet Cee Lo, he is opening for Rhianna at her concert." It finally sank in, I was going to meet Cee Lo Green. This was the one thing I have always wanted to do before I died and now ill actually get to do it! I'll meet him on July 16th so if you stay posted I'll let you know how it goes.

Hello. My Name Is:

Welcome to my blog. My name is Ashton and I am a 17 year old girl that lives in a small town in the prairies. The town i live in consists of about 3000 people so you recognize just about everybody. There's not many things for people to do in a small town so i am going to give you an idea of what a teenager would do with their free time.My goal by the end of the next two and a half weeks is to give you a clear vision of what a small town girl would do on a normal basis. I hope you get amused by my articles and get an idea of how it is living in a small town.

Every day I will post telling you what i did the night before, what I plan on doing that night, and on Mondays I'll let you know what i did with my weekend. I can introduce you to all my friends and family along the way and post pictures to help give you a better image of the different things ill be doing.
